GHAR KA KHANA

Home Made Tiffin Service

One day, my friend called me from Chennai. He told me how difficult it was to find good, tasty and healthy meals in the city. That day, he gave me an insight, a problem that each and every bachelor living in metropolitan cities was facing. And an idea struck my mind, which resulted in my first venture - Ghar Ka Khana, meaning Home Made Food. After doing a thorough market research, we developed a platform where people used to order home-made food which was prepared by local chefs.

Although we had a team of only six vendors and four delivery persons, our venture was able to make significant changes in their lives. A woman, who was initially dependent on her husband’s income, became financially independent and was empowered to make her own decisions in life. A 21 year old man, who was a high school dropout, gained the respect of his family when he started earning for the family. For me, when you start a business, you become a reason for someone’s happiness and that’s the most important factor in my life. As a co-founder of Ghar Ka Khana, my work solved  problems of close to 150 people in my hometown, made six women independent and helped four young men get rid of their family debt. I feel satisfied when my contribution could bring a change in people’s life and that is why I want to work in a start-up where the culture demands you to be in the frontline, understanding the needs and wants of all the stakeholders.
